I love Roni Loren’s books. I know I’ll get something good with every one of them, so no shocker that I loved The One Who Got Away. What I really like is that it not only has a second-chance romance trope, but it’s also has a bit of a second chance at friendship.
Twelve years after a horrific school shooting, several survivors return to participate in a documentary. Many harbor guilt in some way for what happened, including Olivia and Finn. I love the ease in which these two reconnected. By that I mean they have an undeniable chemistry that makes them just feel right for each other. They’re both great characters, but together they were so extra. 
Yes, they had to deal with some issues, but it doesn’t feel ridiculously angsty or overblown.
I mentioned the friendship because the documentary also brought Olivia and three other friends (who are MCs for the rest of the series) back together. When they decide to open a time capsule and read the letters to themselves, they realize some changes are needed. I love how they bonded (again) and supported each other.

Do I even have to say it? Okay. Yes, of course, I enjoyed The One You Can’t Forget! I was eager to get Rebecca’s story for two reasons: 1) I wanted to know what she was hiding and why she felt so much guilt, and 2) I had major love for the way she handled the awkward situation in the previous book with Olivia and Finn.
Rebecca and Wes are opposites in many ways, yet they are a perfect fit. There was definitely a recipe for disaster because of the role Rebecca played in Wes losing everything. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing at first, but they definitely worked it out. Bow chicka wow wow! 
Seriously though, they balanced each other out really well, and Wes was such an amazing support for her. I was also happy with the growth Rebecca went through because she deserved her HEA!
This could easily be read as a standalone, but I do suggest reading in order because the first book sets everything in motion and makes certain things a little more clear.
